The new snow falls along the river bank. The clear water slows to a crawl. The mockingbird’s song is not heard in the mist. But joyous screams now fill the silence.

When I woke up, nothing was new
Conformity pierced like a knife
Joy, peace, and hope in You
Was all overcome by strife

You are my Rock and my Temple
You are the only Truth
You are everything I’ve wanted
We’ve put out trust in You

Pushing through the day, nothing was right
The pain of it all was too much
But then I remembered what You said to us
One day Your son will come

We can’t understand the power of Your hand
And just when we think we do
You throw it all away, You make us start anew

The Road

Does this mean we’ve figured it out?
Or is this just another bump in the road
I hope things get better from here
But you never know, only time will tell

Is this enough to change the past?
Will life just keep going in circle?
The merry-go-round of monotony, spinning and spinning
But all I want is to get off

I hope life has gone forward
Ending the process
Keep on going, never look back
And take the road less traveled

Something has changed, don’t you feel it?
There’s something about this that just won’t quit.
I can’t help thinking about how it used to be.
Could this whole problem be because of me?

I don’t know what to do to change this life.
The silence cuts through me like a knife.
Is it possible you did something wrong?
Or is it just that we’re both too strong?

It’s not my job to fix it this time.
You have to want to take the climb.
Maybe it’s me or maybe it’s you.
God, I hope we can make it through.

Sonnet #1

I walk into the wild and turn my head
Nothing stands tall except the many trees
All but emotion will soon be dead
But my extremely broken heart now flees

Nothing but the sound of the pouring rain
Even gets noticed by my cold, dark eyes
What can stay the hollow feeling of pain?
The light of the world eventually dies

But when the light shines through the empty door
The realization hits me once again
Then I am left with the longing for more
I will be free from your hold only then

I cannot comprehend this world of spite
Will it end in the darkness of the night?

An Ode to the seasons, especially Fall

When July falls, now laid to sleep
A new season that will soon begin
The trees alone seems but to weep
The leaves cannot withstand the wind

Twas Fall that came, but now it’s gone
A change has come, but is it good
How is it, that it’s all a pawn
Why does it change, because it could

The cool wind blows through open lungs
The ice cold air freezes all life
The wind even seems to have sung
Even faith can’t overcome strife

But when Fall comes around again
Life seems to rise up once more
The lifeless earth will breathe once again
Life itself must be meant for more

Once in a blue moon

The sun shines through

A comet tail spins

Good still outnumbered by bad

One choice

Boxes 1-4

Which to choose,

No one knows

Paper to pen

Life comes and goes

In a blur of motion

Faith keeps you here

Until fear finally takes you

Strength, well that’s only as strong

As the heart that holds it

When you really think about it

There are so many things you want to say

To those that are no longer around

But really, they don’t care

The same smell of home, cookies in the over, soup on the stove

Crackling of gravel, one you love is home

Why can’t you figure it out
I can’t talk yet
